"It is just a female problem! Do the best you can!" From pelvic pain to headaches, many clients tell that they have just dealing with pain and their doctor offers little hope. The good news is that their body is waiting to participate in healing.
Numerous conditions facing women – especially pelvic disorders -- do not resolve through standard medical or surgical treatment. Just because medical science has not yet figured out how to treat these disorders does not mean they are all in your head. It is insulting and erroneous to dismiss these valid and painful conditions as being “female problems” rooted in psychological distress.
Fortunately,
myofascial release can alleviate the disabling effects of many of these conditions. In the case of pelvic disorders, the pelvis is a focal point for the impact of soft tissue dysfunction and injury. Trauma to muscles and fascia creates tension and structural distortion, which often “communicate” through the pelvic region. By reducing tension in the pelvis, myofascial release helps the body becomes more aligned, with better balance and sustained healing.
Here are some of the conditions that respond well to myofascial release:
• back and pelvic pain • migraines and headaches
• menstrual irregularities and bleeding problems
• endometriosis
• recurrent bladder pain and infection
• pregnancy pain and discomfort
• dyspareunia (sexual intercourse pain)
• elimination difficulties • coccygeal (tail bone pain)
• scar discomfort from episiotomy, C-section, or abdominal surgery
Combined with the beneficial effects of massage therapy and other holistic body work, there is hope for relief of pain and suffering. Massage relaxes muscles and decreases stress.
Myofascial release balances the body structure and releases hidden tension to sustain these benefits. Your body is given permission to start the healing process.
